The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) has a new tool to help eliminate any language barriers.
A new translation app is now available for officers, investigators, and 911 operators.
It can translate over 200 languages, including American Sign Language (ASL) through live interpreters and video support.
“This initiative marks a major step forward in our commitment to equity, accessibility, and public trust. By bridging language barriers, we’re strengthening our connection to Chatham-Kent’s diverse population, making sure every voice is heard, understood, and respected," said Deputy Chief Jason Chickowski.
CKPS said the app was first used on October 1.
