Four charged in theft, break and enter

Four people have been charged with multiple offences following a break and enter in Ridgetown that saw a truck crash through a storefront window.

Chatham-Kent police alleged two suspects forced their way into a commercial business on Main Street West in Ridgetown and stole merchandise estimated to be worth $10,000.

Police said video surveillance showed a pickup truck reversing into the storefront windows at approximately 5:30 a.m. on September 11, causing damage estimated at $60,000.

According to police, officers located the suspect vehicle about an hour later in Chatham and arrested a 50-year-old Chatham man at a nearby residence on Pine Street.

Police noted that shortly before 8 p.m., the home was searched and several items connected to the break and enter were seized.

The 50-year-old man from Chatham was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine, police alleged.

Police said that further investigation led to the identification and arrest of three other suspects on September 24 in Wallaceburg – a 41-year-old Windsor man, a 42-year-old Leamington man, and a 43-year-old Chatham woman.

They have been charged with several offences, including possession of property obtained by crime, and breaking and entering.
