Wallaceburg has a new millionaire

A Wallaceburg man is $1 million richer after winning the Maxmillions prize in the August 19 Lotto Max draw.

Brian Brownlee said he found out he won while checking his ticket at the store.

“I used the ticket checker and then asked the retailer to double-check for me,” he recalled, while at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corporation Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings. “I went home and told my wife, and she thought I had only won $1,000.”

The 80-year-old said he was stunned to learn he had actually won $1 million.

“I don’t have plans for this prize yet. Maybe we’ll complete some home renovations, and I’ll get some body work done on my truck,” Brownlee concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
