Chatham man charged for alleged death threats at health staff

A 52-year-old Chatham man has been charged after allegedly uttering death threats towards staff at a health facility.

At around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Chatham-Kent (CK) police received a report of threats being made.

Police say a man entered the lobby of a health facility and asked to speak with staff. It's alleged he started making threatening statements towards two employees who were not there at the time.

When officers arrived, they found the man and arrested him.

Police later discovered that the man was barred from entering the facility except for a pre-scheduled appointment or a medical emergency.

He's since been charged with two counts of uttering death threats and failing to comply with a release order.

The man remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
