CK residents warned of delays to mail service

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is warning the public about possible disruptions in mail service.

Around 55,000 employees for Canada Post walked off the job Thursday in response to the federal government allowing the company to curb deliveries in an effort to help save money.

Any mail being sent through Canada Post won't be processed.

In a statement issued Friday, the municipality encourages people who rely on the mail for paying bills, receiving cheques, and other purposes to find temporary alternatives. This includes using email and prepaying bills.

People expecting Ontario Works cheques are encouraged to call 519-351-8573, where Case Managers will try to find another way of sending the money.
