Chatham woman charged after early morning fight

A 34-year-old Chatham woman has been charged after allegedly striking another woman in the face.

Shortly before 1 a.m. on Friday, Chatham-Kent (CK) police were called to a home in Chatham for a possible assault.

When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman suffering from visible injuries to her face. She told police that she had gotten into an argument with another woman and was suddenly hit in the face.

The suspect reportedly left the home before police arrived. However, she was later found and arrested. She's since been charged with assault.

She remains in police custody, awaiting a bail hearing.
