A 36-year-old man from Chatham-Kent has been charged with assault after a woman told police she had been choked and threatened.
Chatham-Kent police say the 28-year-old female victim from Chatham said she was choked by a man on Monday night in Chatham after an argument escalated.
According to police, surveillance footage showed a man approaching the victim and assaulting her. Police say death threats were also made toward the victim, and a personal item belonging to her was stolen.
The suspect has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and choking, uttering death threats, theft, and possession of property obtained by crime.
Police also noted that the accused had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend court last week. Police did not release his name.
