A large part of Chatham-Kent is seeing lower-than-usual water levels.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) announced on Tuesday that the lower Thames River watershed is now in 'Low Water Level 1 Condition.'
This is because the Thames River is experiencing reduced water flow, currently under 70 per cent of typical summer levels.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the LTVCA said that water levels west of Chatham are normal thanks to Lake St. Clair. It added that levels start to drop east of Kent Bridge.
Landowners along the Thames River are asked to temporarily reduce the amount of water they take from the river. There's no timeline on when levels are expected to return to normal.
