The Catholic and public school boards want to make sure kids feel safe and comfortable on the bus before the school year begins.
Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CLASS) and local bus drivers will be hosting the annual First Time Rider orientation day on Saturday.
The free sessions include a brief animated school bus safety video and an opportunity to board a bus and go for a short ride.
Safety trainers will also be available to talk to children and their parents or guardians about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street safely, and how to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency.
The sessions last about 30 minutes and will run continuously from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
For Chatham-Kent students, the sessions will be at Ursuline College (85 Grand Avenue West, Chatham).
Sarnia-Lambton students should go to Great Lakes Secondary School (340 Murphy Road, Sarnia).
