Boat crash sends four to hospital

A boat collision at Walpole Island First Nation that sent four people to hospital over the weekend is under investigation.

At around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, members of Lambton OPP, Walpole Island Police Service, Chatham-Kent Police, EMS, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), and the Canadian Coast Guard responded to a two-vessel crash on the Johnston River, near Johnston Bay.

Nearby boaters assisted four people to shore, and OPP said all four were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

OPP are thanking those who assisted and said their quick actions helped ensure everyone was brought to safety as emergency responders arrived on scene.
