Collision claims life of Newbury woman

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a collision that took the life of an 80-year-old woman.

CK police said emergency crews were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kenesserie Road and Gosnell Line shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said one of the vehicles had four people inside at the time of the crash, including a 64-year-old woman from Howard Township, and three younger passengers. All four were transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) with minor injuries.

The second vehicle was driven by a Newbury woman, 80, who sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.

She was taken to a hospital in Newbury, where she eventually succumbed to her injuries.

The area was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
