Patients in hospice care in Chatham-Kent will be able to breathe a little easier, thanks to the South Kent Wind Community Fund.
The Chatham-Kent Hospice, in partnership with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA), purchased two myAirVO 2 machines thanks to a $7,500 grant.
The machines provide advanced respiratory support and will significantly improve the quality of life for hospice residents with respiratory distress. The myAirVO 2 helps to alleviate discomfort and reduce symptoms of breathlessness, a common and distressing issue for many hospice patients.
"We are very grateful to the South Kent Wind Community Fund and the Chatham Kent Community Foundation for this generous donation that will help us to continue to strive to provide the best end-of-life hospice care possible for individuals and their families in our community," said Chatham Kent Hospice Executive Director Jessica Smith.
The CKHA will provide training for Hospice staff on how to use the machines, as well as ongoing maintenance.
