Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) has wrapped up fundraising efforts for a new Fluoroscopy machine.
CKHAF announced on Thursday that efforts to bring the crucial piece of imaging equipment to the local hospital have been successful. Adding that a total of $584,210 was raised by individuals and organizations across Chatham-Kent.

"Once again, this community has shown their remarkable generosity and commitment to local healthcare," said Christine Mitchell, President and CEO of CKHAF.
The foundation said that fundraising efforts got a major boost in March because of Bill and Mary Dorssers. The Blenheim couple tripled all donations, up to $100,000, for the Fluoroscopy machine throughout the month.
"We are so profoundly thankful for Bill and Mary Dorssers for their leadership, and for everyone who stepped up to support this campaign," Mitchell said. "Together, we've ensured this vital piece of equipment is on its way to CKHA - and that means better care, close to home, for our friends, family, and neighbours."
Fluoroscopy is an imaging technology that provides real-time, moving X-ray images. It is essential for diagnosing illnesses, guiding medical procedures, and ensuring accurate treatment plans and is used to support various hospital departments.
Community support for the imaging equipment kicked off on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. At the time, the fundraiser was enhanced by another donation-matching initiative from the James A. Beattie Foundation.
The balance of the funds needed to purchase this approximately $1-million machine will be covered through CKHAF's Highest Priority Needs fund.
"As a Foundation, our ability to step up and fund this Fluoroscopy machine is a reflection of the collective strength and compassion of the Chatham-Kent community," CKHAF Board Chair Bob Hockney said. "Together, our donors made this possible, and no matter how you chose to support, please know that you were a part of something big. This is such a perfect example of how our community comes together to make great things happen."
