Front yard fight leads to arrest, mischief charge

A call about an afternoon fight in the front yard of a residence on Lacroix Street in Chatham led to a 37-year-old man's arrest.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the disturbance shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, adding that the report they received said two men were fighting.

When police arrived, they found a 37-year-old man from Stoney Point near the residence who matched the description they received.

The man was reportedly intoxicated and uncooperative with police.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Police said their investigation also showed that the man had allegedly kicked the glass panel on the front door, causing it to shatter.

As a result, the man was charged with mischief before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

The damage was estimated at $500.

Man arrested after showing up to business he was banned from

A 33-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after he allegedly went to a business in Chatham he had been ordered to stay away from.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested him after responding to a trespassing complaint at the business at around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said they confirmed the accused, who was seen on the sidewalk directly in front of the property, had been released on bail in March with conditions that ordered him to stay away from that specific business.

As a result, he was taken to police headquarters for processing before he was released with a future court date.
