Two new measles exposures in CK

Chatham-Kent Public Health is reporting two new measles exposures sites.

Public health officials want you to call CK Public Health at 519-352-7270 ext: 5902 if you were present during the times and places listed below and are not up-to date with your vaccinations.

  1. Dollarama – Thames-Lea Plaza (603 Grand Avenue, West, Chatham) on April 12, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  2. No Frills - Tilbury (59 Mill Street, East, Tilbury) on April 14, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m

"If you are experiencing symptoms of measles and need to visit a healthcare provider, emergency department or walk-in clinic, call first and tell them you have had an exposure and measles symptoms," said CK Public Health.

Measles symptoms can include a fever, runny nose, cough, drowsiness, irritability, and red eyes. A red rash appears on the face three to seven days after the start of the listed symptoms and it may start from the face and progress down the body.

CK Public Health continues to emphasize that the risk of contracting measles remains low in the community because the majority of individuals are vaccinated against measles, providing them with protection against the disease.

Officials with the local health unit are still urging all individuals to ensure they are up-to-date on their vaccinations as a precaution.
