A mystery/thriller movie that was filmed in Chatham-Kent with local actors is set to premiere next month.
'Either Way' was written, directed, produced, and mixed by local filmmaker Cameron Dube through Together House, a local production team.
"We had to use very limited locations, you know, Chatham and Bothwell. So you know, you pick a house that's all you have, really is like a couple houses, and maybe we filmed a little bit down by the river too," said Dube. "So we had to write a story and make it interesting with the limited locations we have here in Chatham-Kent.”
Dube wrote the film and calls it a weird story.
"The main character wakes up in the middle of nowhere, has no idea where she is, how she got there. And she finds herself at the wrong end of a revenge spell, but it's meant for a different person. So she has to discover, 'Wait why am I here? Who's this spell for?' and I say spell because there's like an evil witch type character antagonist. So that's what I mean by weird," said Dube.
'Either Way' is 70 minutes long and will be screened at the Chatham Cultural Centre in Studio One on Saturday, May 10. The evening event is already sold out, but some tickets are still available for the afternoon screening at 1:30 p.m. for $20. To get tickets, email togetherhousefilms@gmail.com.
After the screening in Chatham, Dube will take the movie on the film festival circuit.
"I've never done that in my life so it'll be fun to attend to film festival, let alone hopefully have the film in a festival," said Dube. "Then after that hopefully, it'll be available online for people to watch however many times that they want. I'm not sure what capacity that will be."
