Home sales in Chatham-Kent were down in March compared to the same month last year.
That's according to the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtor's (CKAR) monthly report. It notes there were 91 units sold last month, which is down from the 106 sold in March 2024.
"March home sales dropped to their lowest level in a decade amid the tariff uncertainty leading up to the April 2nd announcement," said Barbara McCaughrin, president of CKAR.
What went up was the average price as the 91 sales averaged around $420,000. Last year, the average was roughly $407,000.
The number of new listings also grew year-over-year with 247 being added in March.
"A near-record level of new listings coming onto the market continues to prop up inventories at their highest levels since 2016," added McCaughrin.
Over the first three months of 2025, 244 units have been sold. This is down slightly from 2024 which saw a total of 258 sales in January, February, and March.
The average price for 2025 is around $435,000 which is up around seven per cent from last year.
