More rain and freezing rain headed to the region this week

Forecasters are watching another weather-maker approach southern Ontario this week.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the entire region, with some soaking rain likely throughout the southern part of the region, including freezing rain up north.

"Rain begins Wednesday morning over extreme southwestern Ontario before reaching the Golden Horseshoe Wednesday afternoon," read the statement. "With thunderstorms expected, rainfall amounts may exceed 50 millimetres over some areas, particularly over southwestern Ontario. Rainfall warnings may be required for some areas as the event draws nearer."

Freezing rain is also possible across Bruce, Perth, and Huron Counties, with two to five millimetres of accretion on some surfaces.

Rainfall warnings could be issued for some areas as the system gets closer. Some low-lying areas could experience flooding.
