The list of high public sector earners in Chatham-Kent last year has some familiar names on it and some new ones.
Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres Physician Vishal Chawla topped the list, earning $423,927. The doctor was followed by Municipality of Chatham-Kent Chief Administrative Officer Michael Duben, who got paid $335,885 in 2024.
Chatham-Kent Acting Medical Officer of Health Shanker Nesathurai was third on the list with a salary of $317,850, followed by retired Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) President and CEO Lori Marshall with a salary of $308,509, retired CK Police Chief Gary Conn with $284,544, and Chatham-Kent Police Chief Kirk Earley with a $277,549 annual paycheck.
Retired Lambton-Kent District School Board Director of Education John Howitt earned $266,884 last year, while CK General Manager of Corporate Services and Chief Human Resource Officer Cathy Hoffman made $243,984, and CKHA Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Aaron Ryan was paid $243,291.
At the municipality, CK General Manager of Infrastructure and Engineering Services Edward Soldo earned $241,303, CK General Manager of Community Development Bruce Mcallister was paid $241,021, and the salary for CK Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer Gord Quinton was $240,562.
Next on the list were St. Clair Catholic District School Board Director of Education Scott Johnson with $236,999, Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres Physician Lalit Chawla with $228,550 and CK Fire Chief Chris Case with $228,301.
By law, the salaries for all public sector employees who were paid $100,000 or more must be disclosed every year.
