Half a dozen local high schools will be competing this week at the National Theatre School (NTS) Drama Festival.
The two-day event kicks off on Monday, March 24 at the Chatham Capitol Theatre, and wraps up on Tuesday, March 25.
Six schools will present a one-act play of their choosing, either a published play or a student-written production.
"They'll be adjudicated and have rules and guidelines they must follow. Two schools will be selected to move on to the Regional Competition being held in Windsor this year," said Devin Pearson, a teacher at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.
Two outstanding productions from the Regional Festival will be invited to perform at the Ontario Showcase, which is taking place in Gananoque this year.
Blenheim District High School, Wallaceburg District High School, and John McGregor Secondary School will put on their productions on Monday, while Ridgetown District High School, Chatham-Kent Secondary School, and Ursuline College Chatham will present on Tuesday.
Awards will be presented after the shows on Tuesday, and the schools selected to move on will be announced.
