The Chatham-Kent 4-H Association is bringing in a familiar face to be the next president.
Susan Simpson, who's been a part of the organization ever since she was a kid, officially took on the role in February.
A proud worker in the agriculture sector, Simpson gained a lot of experience taking part in different 4-H clubs such as dairy, beef, goats, veterinary, farm safety, and lifeskills.
"It's been a big part of my life. It's a great way to connect with kids and meet people. I'm still friends with people I met in 4H," she said.
Simpson will be president for the next two years.
She told CK News Today she's hoping to see membership increase after it took a big hit during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, there are 130 members between the ages of six and 21.
"If they're [anyone is interested], seeing is believing. We're on (social media) and they can see what we're doing," added Simpson.
Currently, kids between the ages of six and eight can take part in building bird houses to riding on tractors. Nine to 21-year-olds have a few more options including archery, riding bikes, meeting horses, and public speaking lessons.
The annual fee is $110 with members able to take part in any club they want.
"[The fee] gets you as many clubs as your parents why to drive you to," Simpson joked.
