CK drivers stayed safe on St. Patrick's Day

Chatham-Kent police were out on the streets Monday night conducting R.I.D.E. (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) checks.

According to police, CK drivers were well behaved following St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

By 9 p.m., officers on Murray Street in Wallaceburg had checked 80 vehicles. No roadside tests were executed and only two Highway Traffic Act warnings were issued.

By 10 p.m., a R.I.D.E. check on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg stopped 50 vehicles. Police said no warnings or tests were issued.

Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charge

A 28-year-old Ridgetown man is facing charges after Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) got a traffic complaint last week.

Just after 11 p.m. on March 13, police were called to Dundonald Road in Glencoe for a possible impaired driver.

Police said officers located the vehicle in question on Concession Drive and performed a traffic stop.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Middlesex OPP detachment. He has since been released with a May 13 court date.
