CK Hospice Foundation Executive Director announces retirement

The Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation is about to retire.

Jodi Maroney said she will be retiring on June 27, 2025.

Maroney has been Executive Director at CK Hospice Foundation for nine years and almost three years as Director of Development with the group before Hospice opened.

Maroney is credited with raising $5.8 million to build CK Hospice and raising over $15 million to allow CK Hospice to care for over 1,530 families and provide grief and bereavement support to over 1,950 individuals from across the municipality at no cost to them.

“It has been a tremendous honour to be a part of the Chatham-Kent Hospice and Foundation over the years. I will miss the amazing people I have had the privilege to work alongside very much. I have learned a lot of life lessons working at Hospice and the biggest one is that life is precious, so I intend on spending more time with my family and friends as I make the most of each day," said Maroney. "I strongly believe in the work of the Hospice in our community and will continue to be a loyal supporter. Thank you to everyone who helped and continues to help make Hospice end-of-life care available to our local families.”

Maroney is an avid canoeist and camper and plans to be doing more of that with her husband during her retirement.

The Board of Directors at Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation said Maroney and her team developed the organization’s "strong" governance framework, built "tremendous" recognition and trust in the community, and "consistently" raised the funds needed to support hospice end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent.

“We are deeply grateful for Jodi’s remarkable contributions, which have strengthened our organization and positioned us for continued success. She has inspired our team, cultivated valuable partnerships, and significantly advanced our impact in the community. Jodi’s leadership will leave a lasting legacy. She will always hold a special place in the heart of Chatham-Kent Hospice and Foundation," said Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation Board of Directors Chair Marian Redford. "We wish Jodi all the best as she embarks on this next chapter, spending more time with family and pursuing personal passions.”

The board of directors noted it has established a selection committee to choose the next Executive Director and has engaged Logic Executive Search and Workplace Solutions to begin the recruitment process.
