Gusty winds expected to start the week

Gusty winds are expected Monday across parts of southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, advising of strong southwesterly winds gusting up to 70 or 80 kilometres an hour, for Sarnia-Lambton, London-Middlesex, Chatham-Kent, Windsor and Essex County.

The national weather agency said the strong winds are expected to develop Monday morning and continue into the evening hours, gradually decreasing through the night.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break, and related power outages are possible.

Environment Canada said along with the gusty winds, a strong cold front will move through the region Monday night.

This front may be associated with bursts of heavy snow and blowing snow giving significantly reduced visibility along with a sharp temperature drop.
