The Chatham-Kent Police Service was able to safety solve multiple cases this week thanks to closed-circuit television (CCTV).
Officers responded to a robbery in Tilbury on Wednesday evening but were unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle despite an extensive search of the area.
Investigators then used the local CCTV system and spotted the suspect vehicle in Chatham. Police quickly located the vehicle and the suspects were arrested without incident.
A few hours later, police were called about an elderly person who had not returned home to Chatham following a scheduled appointment, and the family was concerned given the extreme cold temperatures.
Officers discovered the missing person's vehicle in the Dresden area thanks to the CCTV system.
When police located the vehicle, it was low on fuel and the driver was disoriented. They were safely returned to their family.
Investigators say both calls were helped greatly by the CCTV system, which is in place in a number of communities in Chatham-Kent.
