Canada's GDP improves in October

Canada's economy grew slightly in October.

That's according to Statistics Canada's monthly GDP report released on Monday.

It increased by 0.3 per cent in October, up 0.2 per cent from September.

The goods-producing industries played a big part as they rose by 0.9 per cent. This comes after the sectors decreased in four consecutive months.

Leading the way was the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector as it grew by 2.4 per cent.

Other sectors that saw a boost include manufacturing, 0.3 per cent; real estate and rental, 0.5 per cent; construction, 0.4 per cent; and wholesale trade, 0.5 per cent.
