Annual Holiday Jam for Hunger to benefit two local organizations

Local musicians will hit the stage on December 28, to fill the shelves at two area organizations.

Hope House - Mental Health Network of Chatham-Kent and Chatham Outreach for Hunger will receive the proceeds of this year's event.

"All of the participating musicians have strong connections to Chatham-Kent," said organizer and performer Alysson Storey. "It's thanks to them the annual Holiday Jam for Hunger shows have raised close to $34,000 for local charities. With the news earlier this year from Chatham-Kent Public Health that 1 in 5 families in CK have to choose between food and rent every month, it's clear the need is greater than ever."

The musical tradition began in 2004 and has continued every year, including online shows in 2020 and 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year Soul Remedy Orchestra will headline the event. The band plays a variety of rock and roll, prog rock, pop, and country.

"The dance floor is always full when they start to play," Storey said.

The Dave Trinca Xperience and 40 Hours Over will also play.

40 Hours Over played their first public show during the Holiday Jam in 2022.

Sons of Kent Brewing and an anonymous donor are sponsoring this year's Holiday Jam.

Admission is by donation. Doors will open at 7 p.m. at Sons of Kent Brewing (27 Adelaide Street South in Chatham) on December 28.
