Food Banks across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent are getting a big helping hand.
The CK ATV Club is giving food to each of the 10 locations after receiving donations and holding a food drive at Chatham’s Real Canadian Superstore.
On Saturday, people could buy premade bags at the store for $5. Each included $10 to $12 worth of food and was given to the ATV Club.
Vince Masse, president of the CK ATV Club, told CK News Today the Superstore has sold premade bags before, however, they sold a record number this time around.
“I think the record was 376 of bags sold and we got 500 sold,” he said.
All the bags that were made ended up being sold. Fifty bags are being given to each of the municipality’s Food Banks.
Masse noted they also have a trailer worth of food that will be divided up as well. The ATV Club was able to collect over $2,000 and used that money to buy the additional food and hygiene products.
“[The Superstore] made us up a load of food for $2,000. It was worth more than $2,000,” said Masse.

He explained the generosity of the Superstore allowed them to donate roughly the same amount as they used to before COVID despite not collecting the same amount of funds.
