CK Fire Chief receives Coronation Medal

The fire chief for Chatham-Kent was recently given a medal for his work in the municipality.

Chris Case was awarded the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal after being nominated by the president of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) in appreciation for some of the work he has done for the CACF and in appreciation of his leadership.

"To be awarded a medal just for doing your job is an honour and one that I don't take lightly," he told CK News Today.

Firefighters chosen to receive the medal were recognized during the CAFC's annual conference last month in Montreal. Case was there but not to receive the medal, rather to share an update on work being done since the 2021 explosion in Wheatley.

"We came out for a day or two just to do the presentation, so while everyone else got their uniforms on and got given the medal, we were already back in Chatham-Kent," he said with a laugh.

Case received the medal at a later time from the CAFC president.

He's currently getting the medal mounted in time for Remembrance Day on November 11, 2024.
