Air conditioner stolen from commercial property in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a stolen air conditioner and whoever took it.

CK police said they were called to the commercial property on Murray Street in Chatham on Tuesday and learned that at some point over the past few days, someone had gone into a compound at the property and removed an air conditioner.

Police said whoever broke in caused about $2,500 in damage to the building.

Wanted Chatham man arrested at CK police headquarters

A 31-year-old Chatham man who was wanted by police in connection with an intimate partner violence investigation has been arrested.

CK police said they took him into custody when he showed up at police headquarters at around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday.

He is facing seven counts of failing to comply with a release order, one count of break-and-enter, and one count of assault with a weapon.

Police recover stolen property, arrest theft suspects

Chatham-Kent police have made a pair of arrests in connection with a break-in at a business in the area of King Street West in Chatham.

Officers said they were able to recover some important stolen property through their investigation and returned that to the business owner after documenting it for evidence.

Police said they were also able to identify two suspects in connection with the case who were already "known to police from previous involvements."

A 31-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were both arrested and charged with break and enter in connection with the case. The man was also charged with six additional counts of breaching his probation order.

The woman who was arrested was later released with a future court date while the man was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Walpole Island woman arrested at Wallaceburg police station

A 31-year-old Walpole Island woman is facing a future court date after she was arrested at the police station in Wallaceburg.

CK police said she showed up there at around 7 p.m. Tuesday evening and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

She was taken to police headquarters for processing and later released with a future court date.

Officer on patrol nabs wanted Chatham man

A keen-eyed CK police officer who was on general patrol in Tilbury overnight managed to track down and arrest a 26-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for failing to comply with his probation.

Chatham-Kent police said the officer saw the man at around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.

He was taken to police headquarters for processing and was later released with a future court date.
