Vacancy rate at CKHA rebounds from pandemic slump

The staff vacancy at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has vastly improved.

CKHA Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Aaron Ryan said the overall vacancy rate went from a high of 8.2 per cent a couple of years ago to 3.6 per cent in August.

Ryan also noted the vacancy rate for Registered Nurses at CKHA has gone from 15.9 per cent in 2022 to 5.2 per cent.

"We're really thrilled with the work that not only the HR team is doing in helping to recruit, but our entire clinical teams and all of the managers throughout the organization helping to create an organization that people want to stay at," said Ryan.

He said CKHA is still looking for Nuclear Medicine Technologists and Registered Laboratory Technologists.

Meanwhile, the hospital's financial situation is also looking healthy.

Ryan said CKHA finished the year with a $575,000 surplus.
