Texting argument leads to threats charges

Chatham-Kent police have made an arrest after an argument over a texting app led to some comments that crossed a legal line.

Police said they learned that a man who was arguing with a woman over text messages also left several voicemail messages for her.

Officers said during that exchange between the two people, the man allegedly made several comments that indicated he would harm the woman and another individual.

Police were called to investigate the case on Wednesday and found the man Thursday morning.

He was arrested and charged with four counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm and one count of uttering threats to destroy or damage property.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.
