River Run returns this weekend

The deadline to guarantee your spot in the Habitat for Humanity River Run is fast approaching.

The run is set to take place this Sunday, September 22 along the Thames River in Chatham.

"It will take place across the road from the ReStore at Enbridge (on Riverview Drive)," said Anne Taylor, Director of Partnerships and Stakeholder Relations. "So the weather looks amazing, it's a great day for a run or walk, and it's a great day to come out and support Habitat for Humanity."

All of the money raised goes back to Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent and its next home build.

There are three distances for runners and walkers to choose from.

"So there's a half marathon, there's a 10K and then there's a 5K run/walk," said Taylor, "So lots of different options for any level of activity you want to put out on Sunday."

Taylor added that there will be water stations and bathrooms along all the routes, and this year there is day-of registration.

"There is day-of sign-up, but it's going to be a first-come, first-serve basis. They'll bring same-day bibs, but there are only going to be so many, " added Taylor. "But you can sign up until the end of day Thursday (September 19), on our website, and that will guarantee you a bib."
