Argument leads to damaged vehicle, threats

A 25-year-old Walpole Island woman is facing a pair of charges after she allegedly damaged a woman's vehicle and threatened her during an ongoing feud.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called in for that shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday on Queen Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers said they learned that two women were involved in a dispute when one of the women damaged the other woman's vehicle.

The same woman accused of damaging the vehicle also allegedly threatened the victim during a "recent encounter," according to police.

The accused was arrested and charged with uttering threats and mischief before she was released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham man will spend some time behind bars after violating bail conditions

A Chatham man is set to spend the next 110 days in custody after he was allegedly caught breaching his bail conditions.

CK police said they showed up at the man's residence to conduct a compliance check at 11:20 p.m. on September 3 and learned that the man was not following his curfew condition, so they issued a warrant for his arrest.

Police said the man then showed up at the courthouse shortly after 10 a.m. on Wednesday and was arrested for bail violations.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing and as a result of that hearing the 47-year-old Chatham man was sentenced to 110 days in custody followed by 24 months of probation.

He was then taken to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre.

Chatham man arrested for assault after argument

A 25-year-old Chatham man is facing a pair of assault-related charges after an argument took a violent turn Thursday afternoon.

CK police said police were called in for that shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday, adding that they learned the man had been arguing with a woman when he allegedly assaulted her.

The woman reported a minor physical injury as a result and the man took off before police arrived, but they found him a short distance away.

Police said he was arrested, charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm, and taken to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Alberta man arrested for assault, criminal harassment

A 24-year-old Alberta man is facing two counts each of assault and criminal harassment in connection with an intimate partner violence investigation in Chatham.

Police said their investigation started on September 8 when they learned about an incident between a man and a woman while they were in a vehicle together.

Officers said after the incident, the man allegedly continued to harass the woman through phone calls and social media and also showed up at her home even though he was told to stop contacting her.

He later turned himself in at police headquarters and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
