Arrest made in string of commercial break and enters

The Chatham-Kent Police Service arrested a 43-year-old man in connection to a string of commercial break and enters in the municipality.

Police collaborated with Community Patrol and the Intelligence Unit to launch an extensive investigation after a similar pattern was identified in the break-ins in August.

Using video surveillance analysis, witness interviews, and various other investigative techniques, officers identified a primary suspect in the crimes.

The Chatham-Kent man was arrested on Saturday, August 31 and charged with 11 counts of break and enter, nine counts of possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance.

He was held for a bail hearing, then he was remanded into custody and transported to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre.

Police continue to investigate the other unidentified suspects.

If you have any information that will assist in this matter, contact Constable Kevin Burgess at kevinbu@chatham-kent.ca, or submit a tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
