The man accused of killing a local family matriarch in a hit and run in Ridgetown is still going to trial, but on two charges only, not three.
John Wilson, 39, of Ridgetown, had an impaired driving charge dropped in Chatham court on Thursday because of conflicting evidence. However, his charges of dangerous driving causing death and failing to remain at the scene of a collision resulting in bodily harm will be tested in a Superior Court trial.
His trial date will be determined on Monday.
Wendy Clark, 66 of Howard Township, was struck by a vehicle in broad daylight on October 19, 2022.
Clark was airlifted to a Windsor hospital with life-threatening injuries and died two days later.
She was hit by a passing vehicle as she was getting out of her vehicle, which was parked on Main Street, but the suspect vehicle took off.
Wilson is also facing Highway Traffic Act offences.
The case is under a publication ban that prevents more information and evidence from being made public.
