A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted for more than three years for skipping a scheduled court date has been arrested in his hometown.

Chatham-Kent police said a bench warrant was issued for the man's arrest in March 2021 when he failed to attend court in relation to some assault investigations.

Police said they found him on Murray Street in Wallaceburg shortly before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and confirmed the man was wanted, so they arrested him.

He is currently charged with several offences including three counts of assault, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and one count each of failing to attend court and breaching a peace bond.

The man was taken into custody and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.
