Man Arrested for Assault

A 21-year-old man from Chatham has been charged with assault, uttering threats, and forcible confinement following an argument.

Police reported officers went to a home on King Street in Chatham Saturday night after an assault was reported and learned that a 19-year-old woman attended a man’s home to collect personal property when they began arguing.

Police said the woman was assaulted and the male suspect continued the argument by blocking the woman from leaving and making threatening comments.

Officers also discovered the man had court conditions to not communicate with the woman as a result of a previous investigation and was also charged for not complying with the court order.

The woman was aware of the conditions and was also arrested, police said. She has also been charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and facilitation.

Man Arrested for Theft

Police in Chatham-Kent have arrested a man after a theft in Tilbury.

Police said they responded to Dashwheel Road in Tilbury East Township for a break-and-enter where investigators said the complainant found a man and a woman attempting to break into his vehicle Sunday morning.

The individuals fled on bicycles when confronted, according to police. However, the complainant followed the pair and provided officers with a description and location of their last known whereabouts.

The male suspect was arrested on Queen Street North and was charged with theft.

Outstanding Warrants, Bail Violations, Fail to Attend Court

First, a 37-year-old Tilbury man has been arrested for failing to follow his bail conditions.

Chatham-Kent police reported the man breached his bail conditions when he allegedly fled from his surety on Sunday.

According to police, he was released by the court with conditions prohibiting him from being outside his residence without his surety.

Secondly, a woman from Chatham-Kent wanted on an outstanding warrant for an assault on June 30, 2024 on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg has been arrested and charged.

Chatham-Kent police said they found her on Fork Street in Wallaceburg on Sunday.

The 27-year-old was charged with assault, theft, possession of stolen property and mischief.

Finally, a man familiar to police in Chatham-Kent has been arrested for failing to attend court.

Police said officers saw the man on Superior Street in Tilbury on Sunday, recognized him from previous encounters, and confirmed he was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to several incidents.

The 23-year-old man is facing several charges, including trespassing, possession of stolen property, impaired driving, possession of a controlled substance, and failing to attend court.
