CK police pay another visit to 'Fun Guyz'

Chatham-Kent police are reporting another drug bust at a business in Downtown Chatham that is openly selling "magic mushrooms."

CK police said members of their Intelligence Section carried out a search warrant on July 4 at Fun Guyz located on King Street West in Chatham.

It's the third time since the store opened in May that police have reported a search and seizure as part of an "ongoing investigation."

Police said during their search on Thursday, officers seized over 311 packages of psilocybin (commonly referred to as magic mushrooms) with an estimated combined value of over $16,000.

Investigators said the drugs that were seized will undergo analysis as the investigation continues, adding that the local police service "remains committed to actively combatting unlawful businesses."

Officers are also reminding the public that the possession, sale, and production of magic mushrooms, psilocybin, and psilocin are illegal.

They are classified in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as "Schedule III" substances.

There is no word on whether any charges have been or will be laid in connection with the investigation.
