Man accused of skipping court, breaching probation arrested

A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man with a history of getting in trouble with the law is spending some time at the Southwest Regional Detention Centre.

Chatham-Kent police said they found him on St. Clair Street in Chatham shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and arrested him on several outstanding warrants.

He was wanted for breaching his probation and failing to attend court in relation to a break-and-enter investigation in Chatham from March 2023.

The man was taken into custody and taken to police headquarters first, then later transferred to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre as a result of a bail hearing. He is set to be held there pending his next court appearance on Friday.

Wanted woman arrested at courthouse in Chatham

A 33-year-old Chatham-Kent woman who was wanted for allegedly skipping court has been arrested again.

Police said she showed up at the courthouse on Grand Avenue West in Chatham at 10 a.m. Wednesday, but the problem was that she had already missed her scheduled court appearance.

As a result, she was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing before she was released with conditions and a future court date.

The woman is charged with several offences including three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts each of theft, possession of stolen property, and failing to attend court.

Man wanted for DNA sample arrested in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with a 34-year-old Chatham man accused of failing to show up for a DNA collection appointment.

Police said they found the man on James Street in Wallaceburg shortly after 12 p.m. Wednesday.

He was taken to the courthouse to fulfill the warrant and was later released.

Emergency hangup call leads police to wanted woman

A 911 hangup call in Chatham led police right to a woman who had been evading the law.

Officers said they found her when they were following up on the call on Pine Street in Chatham shortly before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said she was wanted on a warrant for failing to make a court appearance for some bail violations.

She was arrested and later released with a future court date.
