Third death in three days on Longwoods Road

For the third time in three days, police are reporting an incident on Longwoods Road between Chatham and London that claimed someone's life.

Chatham-Kent police said in the most recent case, they were called to a stretch of the road between Dew Drop Road and Huff’s Side Road in Thamesville for a serious motor vehicle crash at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said a westbound vehicle with a driver and two passengers veered into the eastbound lane, hitting an eastbound vehicle with one person inside.

Officers said the westbound vehicle ended up on the north side of the road while the eastbound vehicle stopped on the south side of the road.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle and all of the passengers of the westbound vehicle were treated for minor injuries, but the driver of the westbound vehicle -- a 41-year-old Dresden man -- had to be pulled out by emergency crews and was later pronounced deceased.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Unit is currently investigating the collision and they are asking anyone with information to contact Constable Joel Rehill at joelr@chatham-kent.ca or call 519-355-1092.

Chatham-Kent police are also extending their condolences to the man's family and friends.

In two separate collisions on Longwoods Road over the weekend, a 41-year-old Leamington man died in a motorcycle crash and a 68-year-old Ingersoll man died after suffering a medical event during a charity motorcycle ride.
