Woman wanted for skipping court arrested

A trip to Wallace Street in Wallaceburg ended with Chatham-Kent police picking up a wanted woman.

CK police said they found the 28-year-old Wallaceburg woman at around 10:45 a.m. Sunday. She was wanted for failing to attend court for some theft investigations.

The accused was arrested and later released with a future court date.

She is currently charged with two counts of theft, two counts of failing to attend court, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of possession of stolen property.

Man wanted for assault arrested in Chatham

A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted by police in connection with an assault investigation from October 2023 is back in police custody.

Officers caught up with him on Duke Street in Chatham at around 1 p.m. Sunday and confirmed he was wanted on the warrant.

The man allegedly took off running when police stopped to talk to him, but he was arrested after a "short foot pursuit."

Police said the man is currently facing two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of failing to attend court and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Wanted man arrested while he was taking back his stuff

Chatham-Kent police managed to retrieve a wanted man while he was retrieving some of his personal property Sunday evening.

Police said they found the man in the backyard of a property on Colborne Street in Chatham just after 7 p.m. Sunday while officers were carrying out a trespassing investigation.

CK police said the man was collecting some of his personal belongings when they caught up with him.

Officers were able to confirm that the man was wanted for skipping a scheduled court date for an impaired driving investigation, so he was arrested.

The 58-year-old Moraviantown man was arrested and later released with a new court date.

He is currently charged with failing to attend court, impaired driving, and drug possession.

Chatham-Kent man accused of trying to break into vehicles while intoxicated

A 19-year-old Chatham-Kent man got a ticket and a ride to CK police headquarters after officers were called to investigate a report of someone trying to break into vehicles in a parking lot on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham Sunday evening.

Officers said they were called to the area shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday and found the man at the scene, adding that he was "highly intoxicated" and unable to take care of himself when they found him.

Police said they took the man into custody and held him in custody until he sobered up. He was also issued a ticket for public intoxication.

Bothwell woman accused of damaging truck windshield

A 33-year-old Bothwell woman is facing a mischief charge after she allegedly tried to intimidate someone by throwing a rock at a truck's windshield.

Police said the woman was one of two people who had approached the victim and tried to intimidate them at around 9:45 p.m. Sunday on Main Street in Bothwell.

Officers said that's also when the woman allegedly threw the rock at the windshield of a truck.

Police were able to track down the suspect and arrested her.

She was charged with mischief and was later released with conditions and a future court date.
