Work to widen a section of Countryview Line north of Chatham begins Monday.
The municipality said Countryview Line between St. Clair Road (Highway 40) and Lindsay Road will be widened to include paved shoulders for cyclists.
The paved shoulders are part of the municipality's road safety improvements adopted in November 2023, said municipal officials.
This rehabilitation project is slated to be complete in late August 2024.
Culverts and catch basins will be replaced first, which will close Countryview Line from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily from June 24, 2024 until Friday, July 12, 2024, weather permitting. The work will be done in three phases:
Phase 1 – Countryview Line will be closed from Prince Albert Road to Centre Side Road starting the week of June 24, 2024
Phase 2 – Countryview Line will be closed from St. Clair Road to Prince Albert Road starting the week of July 2, 2024
Phase 3 – Countryview Line will be closed from Centre Side Road to Lindsay Road starting the week of July 8, 2024
Municipal officials noted the closures may change during the work and advise drivers to follow construction detour signs.
According to the municipality, access to all properties on that stretch of Countryview Line will be maintained throughout the construction.
Officials said pavement resurfacing should begin after the culvert replacements are done in mid-July.
One lane on Countryview Line will remain open at all times during the pavement resurfacing and restoration, the municipality explained.
