Dresden officially lets the dogs out with opening of new off-leash park

The off-leash dog park in Dresden is officially open.

The pooch park, named Central Bark, had its grand opening on Saturday at 501 Queen Street West inside the Tony Stranak Conservation Area in Dresden.

The goal of the dog park is to allow dogs to play in a safe environment and help relieve their anxiety and stress.

Dresden Councillor Jamie McGrail told CK News Today the grand opening went very well and the park is very appreciated by all users.

"I've been out there, I was out there last Saturday. Great spot, shaded, and a nice place to really enjoy," said McGrail.

McGrail said she is very proud of the dog park committee for getting the park off the ground so quickly.

"A lot of appreciation, a lot of goodwill and excitement that they have this facility now and great to see community groups coming together," she said.

McGrail said the new off-leash dog park is very tranquil and is a great place for both large and small dogs to visit.

"There's also an area for smaller dogs. So, if you have a small dog like I do, it's there for you. You're more than welcome to come and there's a place for the littles to run around," the councillor said.

The conservation area also has a baseball field, playground equipment, a walking trail, skateboard park, and pavilion rental facilities.

According to the municipality, the land is owned by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and will be leased for up to 15 years.
