Stars of 'We Bought a Funeral Home' put Dresden home up for sale

The family that bought a former funeral home in Dresden has put it up for sale.

Owner Heather Blumberg told CK News Today her family will be moving to another unidentified city for another project, but she can't say anything about it.

Blumberg said the entire family will miss their "dream home" and living in Dresden.

"We've designed our dream home. It's this huge grand manor that's designed exactly to our style. We've felt so privileged to live here and I think we will all miss it. I think the dogs, because we have three huge dogs, they'll miss the space to run around," said Blumberg.

Blumberg said the entire journey has been "completely nuts" and hopes the next family enjoys the home as much as they did.

"It has been a completely wild ride. When we bought this place we were moving out of Toronto for a quiet life in the country and suddenly we had a TV show and that was crazy," she said.

Blumberg said the home launched a new career for the whole family, including her new design career.

"We found out the house was haunted -- didn't expect that. I have very mixed feelings about leaving. I love this house. It is truly the stuff of dreams. We're sorry to leave Chatham-Kent. It's been a fantastic time here and it's going to take a while to sell the house, we suspect. So, it's not like we're going tomorrow," Blumberg said.

Blumberg noted the home is currently available for vacation rental on Airbnb and she hopes it takes off so the house wouldn't have to be sold.

The house at 620 Cross Street in Dresden is on the market for $1.885 million.

The Blumberg family moved from the Toronto area in 2022 and Discovery Plus television contacted them to do a home renovation series called "We Bought a Funeral Home."

The cost to renovate the three-story, 38 room home is estimated at $400,000.
