No charges laid after pedestrian struck by truck

Chatham-Kent police were called after a pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck over the weekend.

According to police, the truck was driving down Sandys Street in Chatham when a woman ran into the road. A 40-year-old woman was hit by the pickup and then taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver was not charged, as it was determined that the pedestrian was at fault for the incident.

Search for wanted man ended by drone

A wanted man facing multiple charges from both the CK police and OPP has been arrested.

Officers reportedly spotted the man on a bicycle on Adelaide Street in Shrewsbury before he attempted to run from police.

"The man momentarily ran to an address and then fled on foot into a wooded and swampy area," police said in a release.

Police set up a perimeter around the area and initiated a search. The man was ultimately found with the help of a police drone.

The suspect was arrested on the strength of numerous warrants, transported to police headquarters, and held for bail.

Police investigating multiple break-ins

Chatham-Kent police are investigating the entry of two sheds on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.

The occurrences happened at different times on Saturday, police said. Adding that sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. the suspect(s) took about $700 worth of power and yard tools including a Craftsman chainsaw.

Police are also searching for a man who broke into a Chatham business.

Investigators said that the man broke the St. Clair Street business' front window before allegedly entering and stealing several items.

Police do have security footage of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
