Chatham teen turns himself in

A 16-year-old Chatham youth is facing charges after he turned himself in at Chatham-Kent police headquarters Monday morning.

Police say the youth had been released by the court on April 29 with several conditions, one of which ordered him to stay in his residence unless he was in the company of his surety.

Officers said when the youth arrived at police headquarters at 7:20 a.m. Monday, though, he was alone.

Police advised him that was a violation of his bail conditions and he was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order.

He was set to be held pending a bail hearing.
