YMCA celebrating Chatham-Kent youth with awards

Time is running out for youth to apply for a $1,000 award from the Chatham-Kent YMCA.

The Celebration of Youth Awards honour deserving youth between the ages of 17-20, whose talents and achievements have made a difference in their community.

There are 11 award categories, including Agriculture and Environment, Apprenticeship, Business Spirit, Champion of Inclusive Communities, Alan Stevenson Memorial Award, Leadership/Entrepreneurship, Health Sciences, Science & Technology, Sports & Recreation, Volunteerism & Community Service, and the YMCA Youth Leadership Award.

The YMCA is looking for youth who have demonstrated leadership, sensitivity to others, innovation, development of personal talents, overcoming personal challenges, and service to the community. Special consideration is given to youth faced with financial barriers. 

The deadline to apply is Sunday, May 5 at 11:59 p.m. The online application required a 500-1,000 word essay or video, and two references.
