Male Arrested for Being Intoxicated in Public

A lot of day drinking in downtown Chatham has landed a man from out of town in the drunk tank.

Chatham-Kent police said a highly intoxicated man, who is not from Chatham-Kent, has been charged after police allege he was yelling at people walking in downtown Chatham and threatening to throw them in the river.

Police said officers found him in the area of the Third Street bridge in Chatham Wednesday afternoon after receiving several reports from various concerned citizens and arrested him for being intoxicated in a public place.

Officers also determined he and unable to take care of himself and had no place to go nearby.

He was held in custody until he sobered up and was no longer a risk to himself or others.

Pair Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

A man from Wallaceburg and another man from Chatham have been arrested on outstanding warrants.

Chatham-Kent police said a 29-year-old Wallaceburg male known to police from previous engagements was located by a general patrol officer in the area of Elgin Street in Wallaceburg Wednesday evening and was taken into custody.

A 53-year-old Chatham man, also known to police from previous encounters, was located by a general patrol officer in the area of Wellington Street West in Chatham Wednesday night and was arrested.

The reasons for the arrest warrants are unknown.
