Single-vehicle crash leads to impaired driving charges

No serious injuries were reported after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 40 between Chatham and Wallaceburg.

Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they were told about the collision just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"Members of Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS) discovered a single-vehicle collision on St. Clair Road near Greenvalley Line, Municipality of Chatham-Kent and notified police," an OPP release said.

The female driver was assessed at the scene and decided not to go to the hospital.

When police arrived, officers saw signs that the woman could be intoxicated and initiated roadside testing. After failing the test the woman was arrested and taken to Chatham OPP headquarters for further testing.

The 22-year-old Chatham woman faces two impaired driving charges. Her driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was set to be impounded for seven days.
